News from the new SAN FELIPE TITLE CO (Bookstore)

As we head into the summer months we are going to take a little break in the action.  As we do every summer we will go out into the field and buy new and interesting books…. depending on several factors we will be closed the entire month of July….. but check this column for exact dates and the August schedule…..As we do every Sept. we are closed the first week for our annual trip to San Francisco and the BIG BOOK SALE…..last year we were able to bring back over 60 cartons of fine books and looking forward to even better results this year…..

Will reopen on Sept. 8th and begin what we are hoping will be a much better year for one and all here in San Felipe….I am working on once again having some new and interesting presentations…do not wish to jinx the fall schedule but rest assured there will be some great MEET AND GREET BAJA AUTHORS days…..normally on Saturday afternoons…..

We will continue to have the SUNDAY afternoon movies… Catalina will once again host several spiritual groups here at the bookstore…….Have just finished what we call the BARGAIN BOOK PATIO…..have completed painting the patio….out there you will find a huge selection of hardback books many priced at $1.50….this area is perfect for taking a book or magazine and enjoying a cup of coffee and just relaxing…..

The famous HENRY & JUNE (PELICAN’S) have returned to their old digs after a year of traveling up and down the Sea of Cortez……. A little reminder to both old and new patrons…..We subscribe to many different popular magazines i.e. Time/Newsweek/U.S. News & World Report/The New Yorker/National Georgrphic/Esquire/Architectural Digest/Open Road (for you trucker’s) the current editions can be read here in the bookstore and the back editions are free for the taking.

There are several areas which thanks to the much larger space have allowed us to expand the selection of books and they include but not limited to the following areas…… Mexican Authors: Gabriel Garcia Marquez/Isabel Allende/Carlos Castaneda/Octavio Paz/Victor Villasenor and others….. Native American History…. Older out of print Baja Books…and one title in peculiar “The Unforgettable Sea of Cortez” which was re-published in a limited edition… we have also expanded the variety of books in Espanol….. having purchased the entire stock of a bookstore up in Mexicali……There is always something new and interesting to be found in Ed’s Card Corner…. The next Baja Book Beat will come out in Oct. and in the meantime continue checking this column for the latest news on the the bookstore.
Finally would like to mention the closing of the Baja Java downtown location…. It is hard to believe that just one year ago we departed the balcony for our new location…. and now to look up there and see the empty space where so many of you spent many hours of enjoyment……food/drink/conversation….. and last but not least Karen and the wonderful ladies of Baja Java….. you all will be missed by so many of us………….the very best of luck in your new location north of town on Mexican Route 5…………..
